Bresson's 'Pickpocket'

I just saw Pickpocket and i thought of Following. In both films we have b/w cinematography, a minor thief as a lead and amateurs actors. The only difference is that i found Following deeper and, on the whole, better.

Based on your suggestion, I made the time to watch Pickpocket. I agree with you and found Following similar in those aspects to Pickpocket and also better. I found the "non-acting" of the actors in Pickpocket, kept me from caring too much about the characters. I also think the ending of Pickpocket though hinted during the opening blurbs seemed to a come a little from left field.

But thank you for the reference to this film. I enjoyed watching it.
