That's possible, but I think the story is trying to say that Bill has been following the blonde long before he actually committed the burglary.
That is not the impression I get. He followed Cobb while he had long hair, he did not follow her until he cut his hair.
His twisted mind, unbeknownst to him of course, 'created' Cobb. He really believed Cobb was doing all this, had corrupted him.
But Cobb interacts with people in the film.
I don't know what his motives were in killing the woman though, are we to assume she walked in on him while he was in her flat?
The motive the film gives is that Cobb killed her since the Bald guy asked him to since she was blackmailing the bald guy.
That was just my impression of the film. I could be wrong. Can anyone confirm the ending for me?
My take is that Cobb was hired by the bald guy to kill the blonde and setup someone to take the fall. That way if the evidence of the bloody rug is found, the young man will be implicated in that murder as well.
