When Bill robs the nightclub, did Cobb and the Bald Man want him to get caught, or to get away?

What was the initial plan?
The film never discusses it. I imagine it did not even involve the young man, but probably was more about Cobb getting to know the blonde, finding the rug and destroying it.
When the young man entered the picture, the bald guy realized he could get rid of the problem: the blonde could be killed by someone unrelated to him and even if the rug was found later, it would be linked to the young man most likely. share
