Lynch feel?

When I was watching this movie, I couldn't help but feel Lynchian feel to the whole thing. So I am wondering if anyone else felt the same way. Also why couldn't Nolan stick to films like this and Memento?

I don't see it, though that may be my take on the Lynch and Nolan "feel". I see the "Lynchian feel" as more surreal, and not very rooted in what we would think of as "reality". I see Nolan's film as trying to be rooted in our reality even in the Batman films.

Also why couldn't Nolan stick to films like this and Memento?

They don't make as much money as blockbuster films like Batman. If you offer someone money to make a film, they will use it. To me, he has lost some of his "quality" by getting a bigger budget.

I don't feel that this film is "Lynchian" at all. If anything, PI gives me that feeling at certain times more than this.

To be quite honest, I admire Nolan's complete body of work. These "intellectuals" have said that he's "lost his touch" and his more recent films "lack quality", but all art is subjective. People either like something, or they don't. I enjoy his smaller films like FOLLOWING and MEMENTO, but I also like his big budget films like INCEPTION and THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY.

I like a little bit of everything.

I do as well. For me there is a time for "popcorn flicks" and a time for more "arthouse films". I think part of the problem people have is watching a film in the wrong frame of mind. When I am in the mood to be entertained after a hard day at work and I just want to relax and veg-out, is not the time to watch Memento.

For me to be "quite honest", I don't admire Insomnia, I don't find anything "special" about it. I also dislike The Prestige and find it a very poorly written film.

I have been less hard on The Prestige since I read an interview with him suggesting that it did not turn out the way he intended and it makes me want to see the film he intended, though I think somethings could be fixed with what he claims, but other things would stand out more even on first viewing.

It is the type of film that to me seems to want to be special, but only works on the first viewing for about 3/4s of the film. The conclusion, I think destroys the film and knowing it for me makes the poor writing stand out more.

I have never seen a interview with him saying The prestige didn't turn out the way he intended.

And how you can say it's a poorly written film is laughable.

The only thing that could conceivably be described as (vaguely) Lynchian, is the often-used ominous, melancholy noise on the soundtrack. Otherwise... nothing Lynch about it at all.
