Nolan another sellout!

So why does someone go from being a halfway decent talent to a Hollyweed sellout, making more comic book movies. Is it for the money, or are they just plain stupid? I mean how good someone go from being an interesting semi-talent to another hack, making cartoons. The 'Batman' garbage was just pure crap, not even vaguely entertaining in a mindless way. Anyway, most of his contemporaries have gone the same way to become no-talent hacks, like Singer and Favreau and so many, many others. I guess it's just greed, pure and simple. If they can't be overpaid 'actors' they become overpaid 'directors'.

Yes, it is about money. Filmmakers need money to make films. Do you think it's cheap or free to make a film?

Without the Dark Knight Trilogy, Nolan would've never had the clout or been given the money to make The Prestige, Inception, or Interstellar.

You've got a lot to learn about how things work in the real world.

I don't feel Nolan sold out. He has continued to develop over the past 15 years and made some amazing movies. It is not a bad thing that he took on bigger projects.

If anyone should get paid, it should be Nolan. Tyler Perry on the other hand...

Agreed. Loved Interstellar, but The Prestige remains my favorite. As for the Batman trilogy, while i concede that it is greatly overrated, it was still much better than anything Favreau, Abrams or Whedon ever brought to the table.

I personally don't like the fact that he feels the need to do a huge movie every time. But then again I'm just not the kind of person that would ever choose to watch a blockbuster film containing superheroes and explosions over a small and genuine film about people.

Well it's certainly interesting to speculate what would've Nolan's filmography looked like had he not become this hyper mega blockbuster mastermind. The path he took certainly has led into a dead-end, considering that his previous two movies (or, rather, Events) - Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar - are easily his worst and the one preceding them, Inception, was also one bloated, clumsy affair. Of course, it can be argued that Memento, despite its narrative ingenuity, was a somewhat dry, overly cerebral and not very cinematically impressive affair, but nevertheless that as well as this Following here, showcased Nolan as an interesting filmmaker with an alert intelligence and good enough natural instincts. Definitely showed promise for more than churning out fat, tired, billion dollar crowd pleasers. And there's no way back.
