question
I have a question: When Matt Damon is being interrogated by the Mexican policeman, the policeman tells Damon that Blevins has no feathers. What is he talking about?
shareI have a question: When Matt Damon is being interrogated by the Mexican policeman, the policeman tells Damon that Blevins has no feathers. What is he talking about?
shareI believe he was referring to the kid not having any hair on his privates - an indication of how young he was... John Grady Cole gives the Mexican cop a funny - and uncomfortable - sort of look.
That's the way I interpretted it anyway.
"Birds of a feather, flock together."
Blevins didn't have any identification, and thus couldn't be accounted for.
/was once in a foreign place without ID
Yes, i agree
shareHe was talking about pubes ese!
shareYeah he was. Even in the book he says "I wouldn't know anything about that" as a response to the captain.
Hehehz.
i was wondering about that!

I beleive they are partially right - no ID, but remember, he also had none of his own clothes as a result of discarding them to insure no lighting would zap him in the thunder storm. Plus he was "drunker'n *beep* Dontcha love movie quirks?
shareThe Mexican captain believes Blevins to be from an American Indian tribe, which seems likely judging from his skill at shooting and riding etc. This is why he questions the lack of feathers.
shareHaha, there are some rather, um, "creative" explanations in this thread. But it is clearly an idiom in reference to Blevins lack of pubic hair and young age.
"A man is his own easiest dupe, for what he wishes to be true he generally believes to be true."
Yes, he was referring to lack of pubes. "He's so young, he doesn't even have any hair yet." Hey Marilyn, we all know you're dumb, but you're supposed to be dead, remember?
shareAt the risk of adding to the "creativity" of the responses, I'll add that the reason the Captain knows Blevins has no feathers is because he raped him.
shareThere is a saying before a person goes out, They say they got their feathers together. It means they have their id, their clothes and everything they need to have when they are going out or going to do something. I say it all of the time. Got meeting to go to I will say ok I got my feathers together and I am ready to leave. It comes from the saying fine feathers. Which means your clothes look good and you are dressed up.
