Jumpy?
I am currently watching this movie, and I am not sure I like it yet. It jumps all over the place. Does anybody else feel that way?

shareJust out of interest, why are you leaving a film part way through to write on IMDB? How do you manage to sit through movies at the cinema? Or do you take your laptop in?
shareA very dry movie. I lost interest after the prison scene. It's got a pace that would make a snail sleep. Very boring.
shareHave you never been in a forbidden relationship or perhaps found and courted someone who was perfect for you in every single way (i.e your soul mate) only to lose them for whatever reason and then live out the rest of your life in another relationship with that little hollow feeling and question of 'what if'? That's what makes this movie so powerful to me. It brings back past memories, experiences, happiness, and pain. It's a wonderful movie that burrows deep into my emotions. I'm not a big fan of Billy Bob but wow did he direct a great movie...I would love to see his director's cut.
shareI've been in that situation, but man did I bore my friends to tears with the details. This movie is the same.
shareTo quote another comment elsewhere on this board (from LTUM), "...this story has so many good themes it illustrates. idealism, youthful hubris, passing of eras, holding on after the party, friendship and unconditional allegiance, existential madness (the death of the kid), irony and tragedy." If that sort of thing makes you "jumpy," obviously this isn't the film for you.
the movie demonstrates that living by idealism gets people killed
shareDave: How so? The only death is that of Blevins. He wasn't an idealist. Just an immature (though independent), stubborn and feisty kid. It didn't help his situation that he was in Mexico when he fell into trouble. And the crooked Mexican police captain dies, we are told. But he was no idealist either. Just a pendejo.
