Is the store still in business?
Yes, of course, I understand this is fiction.
I'm just wondering, in the universe of the movie, would Championship Vinyl have survived Napster and the digital music revolution?
I'm saying yes. It is a niche market; people who still want old vinyl. People who are in their 40s and 50s now, and have disposable income to burn. Although that market is small, it's steady. But perhaps the economic downtown, the Great Recession, would have soaked up all this disposable income and wiped them out.
On the other hand, they also sold CDs which would pay the rent, and keep the lights on. I also understand there's been some kind of upsurge in vinyl in the past decade or so that would have helped them.
I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.
