Why wasn't Michelle Mancini the final girl?

Why did Brenda chose to quickly kill the actual driver of the car responsible for her boyfriend's death, without her ever knowing why she was killed, and play those elaborate mind games with the passenger?
Revenge-wise, it would have made more sense if Michelle was the final girl (or Natalie the driver, which I half-expected to be revealed by the end).

My theory: Brenda hated Michelle so much she just couldn't resist killing her first.

Yeah I guess you could see it that way, but still...

You bring up a good point. I think that the writers chose to go with Natalie because she was more sympathetic of the two for the audience to connect with. Even though Natalie was, essentially, just as guilty (she should have told Michelle to stop), she clearly felt uncomfortable the longer the headlight flashing went, and Michelle was, ultimately, the actual driver.

Yeah I wondered the same...

One was the opening of Brenda's revenge and the other was the final of it. Ful cirlcle and lots of mayhem in between.
