The main problem with the plot.....(possible spoiler )

Why is it that civilisations who are so smart to create such a powerful object such as the Triangle of Light, then realise that it is dangerous, split the thing up? I mean shouldn't they have destroyed it then and there, and then the problem would be solved? But of course, then there wouldn't be a movie!

In the film, she destroyed it quickly with a bullet from a gun. I understand her motivations were to see her father again, but if she wants to save the world, she shouldn't have revealed to the bad guys in Cambodia about the true eye, then they could have waited another 10,000 years or so. Or if not that, get the first triangle, then destroy it. The end.

If it weren't for that logic, the movie could have been a lot better.

Yup, but there are lots of silly things in this movie. It's a definite 'park your brain at the door' kind of job.

An ancient civilization splitting up a dangerous object and Lara destroying it by shooting... they only included these things in the movie because they were elements of the first installment of the video game series it's based on.

Yes I guess you are right, why didn't she keep schtum about the True Eye?

In the sequel she prohibits Terry from taking Pandora's Box too by shooting him dead. Then the daft mare's curiosity gets the better of her she starts gently loosening the lid which could have released untold misery on the World. OK she finally secures it back in place but after going to all that trouble AND killing her former lover (which you could see upset her), you'd think she would have kicked that box back into the acid pool without a second thought, not start tampering with it.

She's risked life and limb to protect the World from that box and here she is trying to get a sneak peek into it's contents.

I suppose that was just added to give the viewer some tension.

Well, that is Lara Croft in essence, she is not a unselfish heroine, she is driven by selfish motives, like seeing her father, her curiousity, taking artefacts and so on.

reply

Well yes, I guess fundamentally she's tantamount to a grave robber, lol!

Still, she's awesome! I have all of the games!

The best man for the job is a woman..

I was about to add that!

Lara doesn't set out to save the world, she just kills whoever is in the way of whatever pretty trinket has caught her eye that week.

There is a man...he travels fast...he has purpose...he brings violence and destruction.

Mind you, it's fair to say that other rivals actually start shooting at her first so most of her kills are in self-defence.
