'80's & '90's video games that would be awesome movies!
Soul Reaver
Castlevania
Each would be great film franchises.

Twisted Metal
Tomb Raider II
There is a man...he travels fast...he has purpose...he brings violence and destruction.
The actual storyline to Twisted Metal was pretty detailed and fleshed out from 1 to 3 on the playstation 1, and then Black for the PS2. I'm sure a movie could be made out of those plots.
shareJoust or Defender -- two of the best games ever byotches. Defender has an entire built in story as well which was unusual for 1981 -- human in super-ship with awesome smart bombs and incredible firepower and navigational abilities must rescue stranded humans on an alien planet while the aliens are racing to destroy the super-ship and capture the stranded humans first. Joust just looks totally cool.

Duke Nukem
Spy hunter
Missile Command
Paperboy
Metal Gear
Dead Space would make for an amazing movie if it is done right.
shareFinal Fight (with Jesse Ventura as Mike Haggar)
Final Fantasy VII (as in a movie adaptation of the game, not a sequel like Advent Children)
Metroid
One of the Castlevania games, like a previous poster suggested
I saw Streets of Fire, but I didn't find it to be an acceptible retroactive Final Fight movie.
Final Fantasy VII as a big-budget TV miniseries would probably be one of the most celebrated shows (and spectacles) ever made.
shareMonkey Island
Broken Sword
Starcraft
Fallout
Any... as long as they can actually be awesome movies. It hasn’t been easy to pull off.
That said, Ocarina of Time. A big-budget and well-executed epic based on this game would be marvelous.
