Great Film To Make Fun Of

I rented this film a while back, not knowing anything about it other than SMG was in it and, having a crush on her, that was enough for me.

What I got was the dumbest, dopiest, most awful film I have ever seen in my life. So I sat back and watched it again, making fun of it, just like MST3K. To this day I consider it a "laughable gem."

The movie is the definition of formulaic; funny how that term is usually used for horror films when romantic comedies are the genre most guilty of it.

We have Boy and Girl. They have some chemistry, I guess, but are shallow characters. There's no reason to care what happens because they are both two dimensional. From scene one it's obvious they are created to end up together.

However, here's the single dumbest thing about the film: a little more than halfway through, the two leads have gotten together and fallen in love. The film could end right there! It's as if the screenwriter suddenly realized: "Oh, wait, I've got to make this last another half hour," so he throws in some conflict: Boy suddenly thinks Girl is a witch and becomes scared of her. How is the conflict resolved? It never is! Boy just realizes he loves Girl anyway and goes back to her. And then they float, just like before.

Oh yes, and the music video that was on the VHS I rented was also awful. Terrible film, great for an MST3K session!
