Why didn’t this get a sequel ?

This is a great film, it should’ve gotten a sequel or 2! It had suspense, mystery, action, intrigue, all blended with solid direction and good acting from all involved, I loved it.

It’s one of those films that has been sadly forgotten and it is ripe for a sequel, long overdue imo.

This was the film that introduced such characters as Denzel Washington’s Lincoln Rhyme and Angelina Jolie’s Amelia Donaghy. Both fantastic characters from Jeffrey Deaver’s very much recommended series of books.

I realise 20 or so years have passed and times are very different but we could easily have a sequel now. There are certainly many more excellent books of Deaver’s to choose from. A good one would be ‘The Coffin Dancer’, another serial killer thriller. It’s a great read and would make an excellent film.

I’ll end by saying Angelina Jolie is absolutely stunning in this film, gorgeous.

It was followed up by a series: Lincoln Rhyme in 2020. Unfortunately that didn't work out at all. I doubt they're going to put any more money into this franchise after the poor return.

Yes, I agree. It's not exactly blockbuster movie franchise, but it is certainly worth pursuing additional films based on the source material. I very much enjoyed this movie when it first came out on DVD, then again many years later after enough time had passed for me to re-watch as a [almost] new experience again.

Didn't make a lot of money.

I assume it was riding on Se7en's coattails, it cost significantly more to produce and made less than half of Se7en's gross.
