McCourts of Limerick vhs and McCourts of New York vhs

I got these 2 video tapes from Amazon. Malachy's (Frank's brother)son did these 'home movies'
and they're really wonderful for fans of Angela's Ashes.
I highly recommend them. Soooooooooooo much information.
Saddest part was when all the brothers went to put some of Angela's ashes with the grave of the baby daugher Margaret Mary that died in New York.
Angela never knew what happened to the baby. Frank tells in the video that he would ask her where was the baby buried and she'd say she didn't know. The doctor came and took her away. Frank finds out in later years that the baby was buried in a sort of pauper's grave for babies which I believe is in Queens, NY.
He and his brothers put a name plaque on the communal grave for Margaret Mary.
Very sad scene but the tapes are really really wonderful.

I saw the NY one. Unfortunately the Limerick one doesn't seem to be on DVD. Yes, that was truly touching. Frank McCourt has such a sweet heart and thanks to his books you feel like you've known him since he was a little boy. I don't think it's possible to watch that bit dry-eyed.

I also loved seeing the other brothers, especially Malachy because I remembered him from Ryan's Hope and his commercials in the 70s. What Alfie says about people coming up to him and being so happy that they're alive and well is also really moving. I can totally imagine being the same way if I ever were to meet one of them.
