'Tis

I just saw Angela's Ashes and thought it was a beautifully filmed adaptation of the novel. However, I was wondering if anyone has heard if a film version of 'Tis is going to be made.

Is this film much like the novel? I'm currently reading Angela's Ashes, and I really like it, so I was wondering if the movie would be worth seeing...?

reply

I thought it was worth seeing--it stayed pretty true to the book to me...

I really hope they make a movie for 'Tis. I'd see it.

me too, cos in the end scenes of angelas ashes you see frank on the boat to america and you wonder what happens to him, in Tis it starts off from where frank gets on the boat, so i think it would be really cool if they did, but i dont think they will as its been quite a while since angelas, dont they usually do sequels like 2 years after? i dunno, itll be cool if they did tho Tis is a great book.

i dont think they are going to do a Tis movie. Actually, i was disappointed when i attempted to read 'Tis (no offense to Frank McCourt, i think hes brilliant). It was very repetative. Everyday he gets up goes to work, comes home, gets up goes to work, ect ect. I think the movie AA is worth seeing, its not as true to the book as i hoped but still a good portrayal, i think emily watson did a great job as Angela. You could really see the agnst she went through trying to keep her family together and cope with a drunk of a husband.

I think that was the point, it was supposed to be repetetive. He was trying to show something.

Well I think both Angela's Ashes and T'is have a weird/unique style. So if you liked Angela's Ashes, you'd like T'is. But if you didn't like the style in Angela's Ashes then you won't like T'is, lol. But yes, it's good.

'Tis was an OK book, not as great as the original "Angela's Ashes." I think McCourt placed a lot of energy and concentration on AA, since it was the heart of what evolved him into what he is today. 'Tis was good, but it was just more of a simplier story. Try reading "Teacher Man," it's where McCourt talks about his teaching days, I think it's pretty good!
