A few things I've noticed...

Ok, so last night I watched Endgame DVD again, the version where Kate hooks up with Duncan at the end.

The reason I watched it is cos I recently got a new TV - it's awesome btw. Anyway, I decided to watch all the Highlanders again to break the new TV in and with the better picture and sound quality, I noticed something pretty strange this time around...

During the finale with Duncan and Kell, after Connor comes out through Duncan one last time, Duncan calls out the famous line - "There can be only one!" then he flips over Kell and slices the mo'fo's head off. The thing I noticed is right after he ices Kell, before he kicks his dead body off the railings, he seems to say one more line - "I am"...

Am I crazy? Did I hear wrong? I re-wound it and watched it again and again, with the volume fully cranked up and still I heard the same line? Some one please confirm this for me if Duncan says he is the one.

Also, another thing, I was going through all the Bonus stuff and there's the Highlander Timeline which explains it's origins and tracks it to Endgame...actually, it could have been in Character Bios or something, but anyway, it says that Connor was 5000 years old?! This remind anyone of another Highlander character by any change? It's like they don't even know what they're doing...They really messed that movie up.

I have inside me blood of kings - YEAH!

A fellow Scandinavian in our midst? The scenes you describe are on the 2nd disc on the US DVD release of Highlander Endgame. The Scandinavian DVD release features the original theatrical cut, it was later re-edited into the Producers Cut and issued on DVD in the US and throughout most of the world (with a few exceptions such as Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Germany to name a few). The US DVD features an additional third "early full-length" cut of the film on the bonus disc that accompanies the Producers Cut version.

Hey HandsomeGuy

I've also heard of the version you speak of but I have the version where - yes, Kate and Duncan meet up and kind of make peace, kiss, blah blah...But there is no scene with Duncan and the Christmas trees. I goes straight from Kate and Duncan to the next scene of Duncan standing at Connor's grave in the Highlands...

So......There were so many different cuts of this movie, it doesnt surprise me that there could have been a few mixtures...

Davs,

The youtube link you supplied is part of a fan edit so not the same as it appears in the early rough cut on the US edition. The early rough cut is a mixture of fullscreen and widescreen shots with timecode visible onscreen. You may keep this in mind when you view it. The image quality isn't perfect and non-anamorphic unlike the main feature.

Yo HandsomeGuy and ferd.

Cheers for the links dudes. But as I mentioned the Christmas Tree thing wasnt a recent thing for me. I found out about that a while ago. I have even seen that version but I don't own it. I own the one that I started this thread about.

Yes, I agree. Engdame is in no way a masterpeice or even close to being one for that matter, BUT, it does have some particular elements to it that I deem watchable.

Particularly the fight scene where all Kell's goons take on Duncan at Connor's place. The martial arts in that are pretty awesome.

Also Connor's death - BIG EVENT in the Highlander universe.

And lastly the finale with Duncan and Kell.

Then there's little things I like. Like seeing Joe and Methos again, that was cool. And all original characters like Heather and Rachel. And Kate's boobies.

This is the sequence of events the way I saw it in the version I watched.

"There can be only one...and you're not it"

*flippidy flips, a head gets sliced*

"I am"

*Duncan boots dead body off railings*

"Call ya"

No way was Duncan 5000 years old. His first death was in 1536 at the hands of the Kurgan. He was trained by Juan Sanchez Villalobos Ramirez, who at 2437 years old in 1541 (he finds Connor 5 years after his first death), believes himself to be the oldest living immortal.

It is not until Season 3 of the Highlander series that we are introduced to Methos, a 5000-year-old immortal (actually, that's when he took his first head. Before that, "it all starts to blur"), and in Season 4, we meet the 3 other immortals who are all at least 4000 years old.

The Highlander franchise has never been known for consistency/continuity. The series was pretty good about it, except for having 2 stories of how Duncan acquired his sword (One in Season 1, episode 3(?) -- Freefall, with Joan Jett as Felice Martin) and one in Season 1, episode 1 -- The Samurai, with Robert Ito as Hideo Koto).

Destroy all that which is evil, so that which is good may flourish.
