I feel they became worse as they went along.

H1-Solid.
H2-Hurt by production problems, but in its latest incarnation, great sequel that took a chance.
H3-*cough*Remake!*cough*
H4-Incompetent, unfaithful presentation of both MacLeods.

Most people let their full measure of life drip away. Like me.

H1: Original, will always be the best
End Game: But for some sillyness (Kate and Kells motorcycle fags) pretty good, although eliminating Kate from the movie and focusing more on the Connor/Kell feud would have been better
H3: not a bad film, but a total remake of the original, pretty silly
H2: Possibly the worst film ever made

The only one that truly counts is the first, as it was the most original and best.

Only good thing about any of the sequels were Sean Connery's stealing scenes in the rubbish 2nd one.

I know this is an old thread but I just have to say that I recently watched Highlander (the first movie) and I thought it sucked anus. It was just really really bad...just really bad. It made Endgame look like and Oscar contender and Endgame sucked too.
I really only liked Highlander the series.

3. Endgame [any version]
4. Highlander III/Final Dimension (worst)

That's in the ranking as far as everything, story, characters, entertainment value, whatever. The fights are a little flashier in Endgame and Final Dimension but the rest of the movies lack, and the original is just the most well rounded and memorable, and most original. II survives just because it's so campy, and still has likable characters even if the movie is goofy and poorly done.

As far as seeing Endgame in context of the series instead of the movies, it rises in my estimation, but that's compared to the other movies.

Highlander. Very enjoyable, well executed, and fun. It also had some thought, showing the flip side of immortality.

NOTE: I consider all the sequels as bastards. It may be harsh, but there was no real way to come up with any type of sequel. How many times can you get "the prize?"

Highlander - The Final Dimension. Actually okay. I gave it a seven out of ten for being decent. Unfortunately, they simply rehashed the script of the first one.

Highlander - Endgame. As I first watched it, I kind of liked it. The more I thought about it, though, I saw how poor it was. Just once can Highlander not have a renegade immortal as the bad guy?

Highlander II - the Quickening. Awful. Terrible. Abysmal. Bad. Horrid. Ugly. Venerable. Detestable. Those are about all the adjectives I can think of for what I consider the worst sequel of all time.

The original "Highlander" is by far the best of all the films.

All the others pale in comparison, and don't deserve to be ranked against the original.

Fair enough... none of the sequels were really necessary (and the Series can do without either Endgame OR The Source, but especially the Source! I watched "Endgame" again after watching the entire series in order, and I must say it's a VERY unsatisfying "conclusion" to the tv show... the show was winding down and "Not to Be" had a much better ending for all concerned).

1. Highlander 1 ( because it was the orginal,great acting by lamber and clancy brown, and queen rocks)

2. Hightlander 2 renagade version ( i liked it becuase it was an attempt at a new and diffrent sequel)

3. Highlander 3 ( was horrible and an attempt to redue the first one but could have been done way better)

4. Highlander endgame ( sucked, i hated it, and i believe that it shouldn't count or exist since it really isnt cannon at all, atleast the other are close enought)

3. The Final Dimension (while it resembles the original a LOT, it's still a fun Connor adventure)

4. For my mind the saga came to a wonderfull conclusion at the end of Highlander 3 and there are no other Highlander films as far as I'm concerned.
