How Can The Immortals Kill On Holy Ground?

At the start we see Jacob Kell's Immortals kill at Sanctuary which is holy ground. Then Jacob Kell kills the other restrained Immortals there.

I know Kell ignores the rules of the game and that is how he gained such power, but wouldnt that mysterious force that saved Connor from Kane in Highlander 3 stop Kell and the other Immortals?

only in the Theatrical Version is it Holy Ground. but the Producers realized since nothing actually happened with Jacob Kell killing on Holy Ground, that they changed it up.
so The Sanctuary is not Holy Ground. otherwise something would have happened. in the series Joe Dawson mentions what happened when an immortal was documented as killing on holy ground. so something is indeed supposed to happen.

Endgame ignores the events of Highlander 3, so the effect wouldn't be quite as depicted in the third film but similar.

The producers' cut makes it a bit more problematic by removing the holy ground premise of the Sanctuary since immortals wouldn't be protected and therefor unlikely to submit to it at all. However they cut around it they just make a mess of it...

That was in the episode, "Little Tin God". It's been years since I've seen it, so I'm going from memory, but Duncan and Joe's conversation goes something like this:

Duncan: "He was ready to kill me, Dawson,...on holy ground. God only knows what would've happened."

Joe: "You know, in all our records there's only one mention of an Immortal killing on holy ground."

Duncan: "Yeah?"

Joe: "Well, it's never been confirmed. It's more of a legend, but...two guys...goin' at it in a temple in Italy."

Duncan: "Yeah, and?"

Joe: "It was in Pompeii,...79 AD."

Duncan: "The volcano."

Joe: "Who knows?"

At the end of the episode, I seem to recall Duncan killing on holy ground (though I've been told that I'm remembering it wrong). The sky grew dark, and the power of the Quickening set the grass on fire. When it was over, the cross on the church glowed.

Actually in that episode, Duncan did NOT kill Larca ( the immortal who pretended to be God) on holy ground. Larca tried to get back to holy ground, but Duncan got to him befre he could.

All the tv episodes are on youtube.

I wonder why they did not have anything happen to Kell. It would have been cool if he had turned into some figure that resembled the devil or a demon. It is a thought and idea that I would have possibly went with in the film.

Could have tied it into that whole dark quickening thing they did with the tv series.
