Why didn't the writers have a scene with Conner meeting Joe and Methos?

I think it would have been nice if the film had included at least one scene where Joe Dawson and Methos got to meet Conner Macleod. I've always found disappointing that Conner never really had any on screen interaction with any of the supporting characters from the television series outside Tessa in the first episode.

I wondered that in the beginning as well. Such a missed opportunity right there. My initial excitement for the film was in having Connor be integrated into the realm of the tv series. To have him be giving his thoughts on watchers, Methos, Dawson, Amanda, Richie's death, etc.

My only guess is that because Christopher Lambert was already contracted with other projects, is why he had such limited screen time. I think they chose to utilize him for the flashbacks, because they wanted to show the progression of the mentor & pupil relationship between Connor & Duncan. That was something that wasnt able to be done on the tv series. I personally would have preferred more flashback stuff of Connor without Duncan, because I feel like I've been over exposed to Duncan MacLeod already, due to 6 seasons of the tv series.
