Best Friends since they were dumping in their draws

Best Friends since they were dumping in their draws" - Jesse clearly has never stood up to Mark until he meets Rachel. Initally Jesse asks Mark politely to back off Rachel (see the locker room scene). Again pretty true to Jesse's character setup he approaches the initial confrontation passively to start with. However, during their conversation Mark asks Jesse why he's getting bent. Jesse was annoyed by what Mark and other football players did but he wasn't bent out of shape about it.

It's clear in the scene that the person getting bent out of shape is Mark because Jesse was questioning his actions.

Mark doesn't like to be disrespected or questioned about his motives. Mark does as he pleases. And Mark is in control of the group.

Recall that Tracy wasn't an insider to Mark's crew until Monica told her that Mark wants her at the party on Friday. Mark invites who HE wants into the group NOT Jesse.

Watch the scene when Brad and Mark are aplogizing to Rachel. They say "Oh yeah Jesse told us everything." "Jesse said we should cool it." Obviously that whole scene is dripping with sarcasm but the sarcasm is directed at Jesse even though he's not at the party.

This script is so nuanced.

Love it.

Yeah being the son of one of the richest families in the town will do that to you. but Mark went way beyond what a spoiled person would do. he's more sadistic than Chris in the first carrie.
