Despite it's hatred, people have to admit Emily Bergl did fantastic.
She was perfect as Rachel, and did a great job of making me feel for her, even during the carnage at the end.
Hail to the king, baby.

I agree; Emily Bergl was a fantastic actress and she played the part of Rachel extremely well.
On another note, i think some special mention should go to Dylan Bruno, as i thought he played the role of the slimy, loathesome Mark Bing to a T.
I've always thought Emily Bergl was great in this.
Dylan Bruno also did a good job in this, as did Rachel Blanchard. There's actually quite a few memorable characters in this one.
Disagree, I thought she did a terrible job and HATED Rachel. Worst horror heroine ever.
I felt a bit for her at first (though not much due to Emily's acting), but, thanks to the ending massacre, I felt more sorrow for the BULLIES, who I also hated. Not good.

She was awful. I could feel no sympathy for her. Angst high schooler who lost her dog and slaughtered over HUNDREDS of people just because her sex tape was leaked? At least Carrie had a somewhat REASONABLE reason to do it, though I don't agree with killing people.
MovieKid100's mom is a prostitute. One Direction sucks. You're Next failed. What else is new?
Seriously. It's not like she even cared much about her dead BFF. She was ready to be buddy-buddies with the jocks then SEXTAPE

Rachel also had a somewhat reasonable reason to do what she did, her secretly being filmed having sex than having it broadcasted was as awful as what caused Carrie to go psycho at her prom.
Carrie went psycho and lost control thanks to an abusive mom AND years of bullying.
Rachel did it over ONE sextape. That's it. She was in full control as well

Did you just forget her bestfriend committed suicide & leave her behind, alone? She has the right to have all that RAGE!
shareDid YOU forget the fact she was ready to be best friends with all the bullies until they leaked the sextape? Clearly she wasn't all that traumatized or upset about her dead best friend or she'd never have done that.
Also, as douchey as they are, it's pretty hard to place sole responsibility on the jocks seeing as.... suicide really isn't a logical or predictable response to a guy having sex with a girl and then dumping her. Then there's Monica and Tracy, who were bitches for sure, but had NOTHING to do with said death and were also explicitly targeted to be killed. Last I checked, being bitches didn't justify being brutally killed.
No, she had no right to that rage. Awful character.

Emily Bergel did a great job as the outcast and i can sympathies with Rachel. if your best friend dies of course you will try to be friends with other people. once it turns out that crowd never liked her to begin with and it was all a joke to humiliate her. it is natural to feel anger and rage, to sum it up i agree with Rachel killing the bullies but she should have let everyone else leave the party. since they were not directly involved in the set up but only laughed at a sex tape
Rob Zombie is one of the greatest directors today
Emily was awful. IDK how anyone can call her emotionless expressions and delivery acting.
Yes, other people. NOT the people who caused her to try and kill herself and started going after Rachel herself. Rachel was a moron who put herself directly in the position.
As for murdering bullies, absolutely not. What Rachel did is like to walking into a high school with a gun and shooting the people you dislike. NOT acceptable under any circumstances. The fact the film presents it as a good thing is, IMO, deeply offensive to anyone who's ACTUALLY experienced an event similar to it. Awful film with horrible themes

I'm not going to argue with you about Emily Bergl's acting because that's your opinion, but I would like to say that Rachel's grief over Lisa's death was her main motivation throughout most of the film and she only got distracted when she met Jesse, which is perfectly understandable for a teenage girl who has never had a boyfriend.
Even then, she never interacted with Eric and it seemed the other "bullies" weren't talking to him. They had to hide him at the party. They used Lisa to attack her, and by that point she just wanted to get out of there. But making her think Jesse betrayed her and having the tape projected and everyone laughing at her really made her lose control. I think you might have misunderstood that part of the movie.

Except for the fact she wanted to be BEST FRIENDS with the ONE guy who indirectly and accidentally drove Lisa to suicide. So clearly she didn't care all that much about her dead best friend. And the guys were clearly still hanging around him in public, Rachek herself was ready to hang out with all his friends and the two class bitches. Rachel herself seemed to have some idea about the "game" the jocks played. So yeah, honoring Lisa's memory doesn't cut it.
Also doesn't change the fact the film presented the massacre as an appropriate and reasonable punishment for said bullies. Yes, they were awful people, but, at the same time, being a bad person doesn't instantly mean you can or should be killed. Last I checked, being a two-faced bitch (Monica), the class slut (Tracy), or harassing a girl because she got your friend into legal trouble (Mark) aren't exactly death-penalty material. Yet the film acts like she's completely and totally justified. Umm, no.

the original film justifies what carrie does too. despite her psycho mom and being bullied for years, that films revels in what she does at the end. the characters in both films are despicable people for various reasons. but i saw no difference in how Carrie didn't revel in that massacre the way Carrie 2 did.
shareNo it doesn't. First off, Carrie LOSES CONTROL of her powers. Secondly, it clearly plays out the prom scene for horror, since the only person to die there who really mistreated her was Norma, with Miss Collins and Tommy both being killed as well, not to mention the student body.
Deaths also weren't "OH COOL!" style, such as harpoons in penis-es and exploding eyeglasses (Does that even kill you?)

i may be the only one, but I got the impression watching it, that Rachel had been bullied for years as well. or at least it was implied that she was never well liked by the popular kids. and having known someone who had their sex tape leak to a group of people at a party, it's not exactly an easy thing to experience. there is no excuse to massacre a group of people but that humiliation is very real.
shareShe wasn't well liked, but there's absolutely nothing to imply they bullied her
I never said what the bullies did was right, just that she is a FAR less sympathetic person for holding a giant massacre

Always liked her too and thought she was very good in this, especially the scene at the burnt down old High School.
