Would glass in the eyes really kill her?

She'd have lost her sight for sure, but... kill her? There are people who have had their eyes gorged out and didn't die. I suppose this is where we're suppose to use our imaginations and assume the glass blast was so strong fragments went into her brain or something. lol

Anyway, cool death scene. I'll take it as-is. Just thought that'd be interesting to bring up for discussion.

Now the guy's balls getting ripped off... I'd believe blood loss could kill him. But maybe not right away. Unless he fainted of shock and died of blood loss later. But just the mere action alone seemed to kill him, which I don't fully buy either.

Still... great double death! *thumbs up, wink*

I thought her eyeballs exploded and it was that that caused her glasses to shatter. Still, exploding eyeballs, not too sure if that would cause death either. As for mr. castration, he did get a spear gun to the nuts and it may have gone off. That certainly could cause death.

No way glasses exploding into her eyes would kill her. Blind, yes. Dead, no.

What does a bean mean?

reply

Yes that scene always got me wondering also.

I always interpreted the way Monica died was by shards of glass getting lodged up inside her brain and killing her. As for Eric, I interpreted the way he died was from literally bleeding to death after his d--- and balls were shot off.

Could be the shattered glasses only incapacitated her, and she ultimately died from the fire or blood loss or shock.

reply

No. They wouldn't, which made the death totally ridiculous

You have to realize that the glass was controlled by telekinesis. this means that the glass could go as deep as it wanted becuase it was pwoered by mythical pwoers that do not listen to real physics. Hence why any type of glass could have entered her brain, since eyeballs are directly connected to the brain and thus killed her.

Agreed: If Rachel could telekinetically shatter the glass of the lenses and drive the shards into Monica's eyes, then it wasn't beyond her power to drive them a little deeper into Monica's brain...which was how they intended the audience to read the scene.

I don't think the intention was to have the girl killed with the glass break. Remember that Rachel exploded Sue's glass globe, what I saw was she doing the same with Monica's eyeballs - exploding them and causing her glasses to break as well. I believe this was the writer's intention that didn't become clear after all...

Exploding eyeballs (UGH!) could kill a person because of trauma. But incidentally, the glass probably went to her brain.

reply

Much like what Scanners did (the eyes popping in the climax) but using CGI instead of a prop.

I think basically her whole innards exploded, or maybe her brain, and it popped her eyes and shattered her glasses. And yep, that'd kill ya. The kind of dead where ya stop doing things and walkin' around n such.
