How Old?
I think this show has been around longer than 1992. I've seen my old Barney tapes from when I was little, and they look like they're from the late 1980's. Can anyone else provide some insight?

They produced the home video series Barney and the Backyard Gang to see if people liked the idea. Barney wasn't suppose to be on PBS. It was only meant for vhs tapes. However, an executive at PBS station rented a Barney tape and was amazed at how involved her daughter was the show. He called up the creator and told her that he would like Barney on PBS.
