Broken Lizard as a Kevin Smith Film
If you watch Kevin Smith's films from Clerks to Red State, you see him go from amazing unrestricted indie flair to a more refined and smooth storyteller without losing the human touch.
Broken Lizard before I saw this film was Super Troopers to Beerfest with zero growing pains. Seeing this film was like watching Broken Lizard's take on a Clerks motif. It's sometimes awkward and unrefined but the wooden misses are endearing and fun if you enjoy their wacky genius. Only the mid-90's could allow their talents such a wide berth to grow and become the wild ride they take us on. Seeing this film is like watching the first few stand up routines of a now brilliant comic and loving the misses while seeing the brilliance to come.
