So who where those parahawkers working for anyway? (SPOILERS)

I might have missed something, but when Bond and Elektra are attacked by the snowmobile parahawkers, who were the parahawkers actually working for? At that point in the movie I guess we're supposed to assume that they work for Renard, but as it turns out later that Elektra and Renard are actually working together, then this doesn't make sense. Can anyone epxlain this? As I said, I might have missed something here.

They're working for both. Ski chase was a ruse. You notice that Bond and Elektra split up at the beginning and all 4 hawks were chasing Bond in woods and leaving Elektra alone in the gulley. If the intent was to kill both, the hawks would have split up too.

All right, thanks! I didn't notice them leaving Elektra alone. So I guess that is what I missed!

You'd wonder how Bond didn't put two and two together and wonder that if they were there to kill Electra then why were they following him?

One thing I didn't get what was, why was the ruse necessary? Bond is sent on a mission to protect Electra. After the ski chase ruse, he is still protecting her. So why did Electra and Renard even need the ruse then, since nothing changed after? Bond was given no new motivation, so what was the point?

reply

Well I was under the impression that rather than being a ruse the para-hawkers were supposed to kill Bond?? OK Bond jumped on the chopper at the last minute but we don't know the flight time and it's possible Electra, Gabor, Davidov had already discussed his demise and Gabor put things in motion when Bond hi-jacked his skis.

Hey! You're not old enough to drink! Now go and die for your country!!!

But if they kill Bond than MI6 is going to be in Electra's way even more and it would have probably made more sense for her to let Bond protect her, for a few weeks, let the whole thing blow over, and then Bond would go home, and she would be left alone to commence on her plan, unwatched.

Unless I am wrong?

But that still doesn't make sense to me why she staged an attack on herself, for Bond to protect her. If Bond thinks she is in further danger cause of the staged attack, then he is likely to stay around her, and thus not leaving her alone with M.

They were Islamic terrorists and they were trying to kill both Elektra and Bond
