It's been awhile since I've seen this film but when I did I was along and in the dark...thus I got pretty damned scared. I remember it was on UPN or something but then a few years later when Signs came out I thought of this movie again and told people of it who thought I was crazy...for a while I thought I was probably the only one who saw it. I know it was fake to begin with because the guy who played the boy with the camera was on a space show that was on Nick. Anyways I'm not saying that M. stole this films idea but I think he might have gotten his idea from it.

He probably did. Probably seen this when it came out and thought to make one of his own as similar to this. He has done the same thing in the past. He got the "idea" to make the sixth from an episode from a television show.

there was another POV single camera deally-ma-bob from around the same time...this 1 was about the jersey devil, and was called 'The Last Broadcast'...I'd say that film, and this alien abduction film were the main inspiration for 'Blair Witch'...
