The copy I have of this has several parts cut out (i saw it on TV when it originally aired, and there were some funny parts that were cut out.. like the "light probe" scene.. and the "I think I pee'd myself" scene... also as I remember there was a shot that showed the aliens crawling into the window of an upstairs bedroom...
I remember the first two parts but there is no real shot of the aliens entering the upstairs window, just a quick pan to suggest those behind the camera have seen them, but they just miss them, which is one of the reasons the film is so effective.
Different ending. Basically, as best as I can recall, the power came back on. The phone rang, and there was this really screwed up signal on the line; it was kinda like in Close Encounters when they're taking Barry and she picks up the phone. Everyone goes running outside, except for the camera guy.
He goes into the bathroom, gives his testimony, and goes to his room. The, the lights go out, he says "Oh *beep* and an alien grabs the camera. Then you have a nice Brady Bunch style picture of the family, and that's it.
There were no credits implying that it was a film at the time.
I also don't remember seeing that goofy red light whenever the aliens were walking somewhere. I was surprised when I rewatched it today to see all the different stuff.
Also, they had more interviews, etc.
