I did think it was real but I was 13 years old and was sucked into it. I saw it once and it has stuck in my mind as well, that was a pretty trippy movie, but recalling on what I'd seen 6 years ago, I can see some faults in it. Interesting flick though.

Yeah same here. I saw it once YEARS ago & it scared the *beep* out of me. I still think about it now.

I believe in Alien Abduction so was excited when this first came out but dissappointed when I realized it was fake when I recognized the kid in the film also played Radu on Space Cases! The real Greys wouldn't have been so careless as the aliens in this film portray.
shareahaha SPACE CASES!!! I was believing the movie too till I recognized him as well! I managed to second guess myself long enough to enjoy it ("maybe he just LOOKS like him sort of.."). Afterwards I just found it funny to realize him playing an alien in one show and being abducted/tortured by aliens in another. LOL
I think if real aliens were running around and decided to abduct a random family that they'd remove the evidence of their existence once they realized they were being filmed. After all.. if they're smart enough to make inter-space traveling craft I think they'd understand a VidCam Recorder when they saw one and trash it.
I saw this movie either january of 1st grade, or 2nd grade, I don't really remember which. I remember cuz it was a blizzard the next day and my cousins and grandpa and grandma were stuck over. ANYWAY. it was on t.v. and it didn't scare me while I was watching it.. my parents and grandparents were awake, all the lights were on, and everyone was having a jolly time. But once everyone except me, my aunt (she was only around 12 at the time), my brother, and one of my cousins fell asleep.... all hell broke lose on my mind.
I was hearing things, I was crying like crazy, my brother and cousin were TRYING to scare me...my aunt was giving mixed messages by saying "they aren't here." then by saying "the more you know about them, the more they will want to abduct you."
I WAS A LITTLE KID. this movie scared me to the point of MANY sleepless nights... I only JUST found out it was fake about a year ago.. I'm 15 now.
I don't shut up, I grow up, and when I look at you I throw up. AGGH!

My brother thought it was the real, but huffed and said'that's sh**' when I told him it is supposedly based on a 'real' found tape (later it emerges there is no real tape, so rest easy tonight).
I was 19 when I saw this film, and it scared me. There's something disquieting about the idea of those small aliens coming along silently and overpowering your senses with dread. You don't get that in most modern horrors, as the antagonist is usually just a killer with a weapon.
Against the aliens however, there is no way to beat them.
I seen this when I was 12 and it messed me up to, no film has scared me as much ever :D it was the end that got me where they come in with the red light....
shareI saw this when I was 15 when it was on UPN. It scared me so bad and made me have a fear of alien abduction. LOL I have not forgot about it even to this day and still get spooked remembering how it ended with the boy screaming as he saw an alien in his room. *actually shudders in real life at memory*
I have only seen it the one time also and I really don't want to see it again! I've heard people calling it hokey and obviously a fake and blah blah... I really don't want to taint my precious spooky memories with fresh ones of "oh lord that is SO fake." LOL
I think this is the scariest movie I ever saw just for the way it scared me so much. The only other movie that made me SO scared that I was RELIEVED to found out it was fake was The Fourth Kind. I didn't realize how scared that one made me till after the fact when I started having nightmares. :( LOL
Someone ought to sue them for breaking many children brains. I watched it twice approx 10 years ago and I'm still scared the hell out of aliens. Been in army for few years and still can't forget a single frame from this movie. I want to watch it again but I will never dare.
share I just found this today after telling friends and family about it for 15 years. This is a gem and a lost classic that sadly will probably never get the attention it truly deserves.
Agreed, its one of the scariest films ever made.
