I watched this alone at night in a country-house

I tried to find a suitable moment for watching this movie. Being alone in the country seemed suitable. I didn't have any high expectations, I knew this movie does not have good acting or special effects. But I figured it could be very effective as a horror movie. In the right environment such a movie could be very scary.

So how was it? A bitter disappointment. All the potential scariness in the plot was sucked away by the annoying characters who were constantly quarreling with each other about what to do next. The aliens were almost never shown, even the presence of aliens was hardly felt, yet we were shown how the aliens supposedly controlled human behavior from afar by making them do stupid useless stuff. It had the potential to be very scary, but poor plot choices steered it away from great horror into confused home video.
