If one were the Muad Dib, and could have their choice for who to take as Chani, who would you prefer to love and have bear children for you? Sean Young from the 1984 version, or the actress from the 2000 version?
And of course, why would you pick one as opposed to the other?
Barbora Kodetova of the Sci Fi version. She has more heart and more power in her. She is also far more beautiful and more believable. I believe I her ability to raise the children and lead the people. Sean Young could not lead a debutante cotillion. She is worthy of the Muad Dib. Just as Saskia Reeeve is more believable and worthy as Lady/Reverend Mother Jessica.

In my opinion Sean Young does a much better job with the part, so I'll have to stick with her.

The User above makes good points. Sean Young has a "hotter" total body of work in her portfolio. However her hottness in Dune is marginal IMHO when compared to movies like Blade Runner, Stripes, or No Way Out. Barbora Kodetova obviously was given better costumes to wear, better lines of dialogue, and most importantly a larger charachter role.
But could Sean Young have handled the role if it had been expanded to it's level in the novel? I believe she could have, particularly the scene where Chani kills a challenger to the Muad Dib'. Who could not picture Sean Young (Psycho! Psycho! Freak!) acting in that scene?
I would definitly prefer to have Sean Young as bound concubine. I would say to her "Chani, I am the Lisan Al-Gaib, and tonight you shall prove your love for me by allowing me to enter you through the backside."
to which she would likely respond-
"I don't think so Mr.Chacal. Thats not my kind of place."
Screw that, I'd rather have Princess Irulan (miniseries variation).
I sure wouldn't mind burying my sandworm into her desert, if you know what I mean...
If Plan A doesn't work, you should have a Plan B, not Plan A recycled
