Alternate Universe

Came across something and it got me thinking- What if Jessica bore a daughter like ordered instead of Paul? And that daughter did enter marriage alliance as arranged? What would be the repercussions of that?

What else could've gone differently?

any logical explanations or theories? if not, don't worry. Be as insane as possible.

I presume the idea was to get the Atreides princess to marry Feyd and then "seal the breach". Now what exactly this means is not entirely clear to me, but I presume it may indicate some sort of divurgence of desired genetic traits between the two families. There also seemed to be implication that the son of such a union would then be the Kwisatz Haderach. If this one behaved at all like Paul (which is debatable), the Bene Gesserit may still have failed in trying to control their super being.

Other alternate happenings could have been the entire attack on House Atreides. What if they had not been given Arrakis? Or what if they Emperor had not supported the Baron's plan to attack Arrakis. I suspect the Bene Gesserit may have had a hand in everying, as they seem to always do, and if Jessica had followed their designs, would other things also have changed beyond the obvious bearing of a daughter?

I mentioned the AU with a daughter earlier and this one person said that Leto would never ever let his daughter be married off to the Harkonnens and especially to someone like Feyd. So the Bene Gesserit had allowed Leto to be killed and made sure of the daughter's survival and fix things so she would be married to Feyd.

It was a good point. then I thought- well, what if the Harkonnens not attacked the Atreides- or just put it off? Jessica was pregnant with Alia so she was giving Leto a daughter just as the Sisterhood told her to. She just took her sweet time on doing it.

If the daughter had a son, that child maybe Superbeing (cannot pronounce proper term) and even the Mua'dib.

hey, what if Feyd had to fight with Leto II (McAvoy) or even Farad'q. Pre-training with Jessica, Feyd would've killed Farad'q but he would not touch Leto II.

I think the ultimate repercussions of it would have been no Golden Path, so Humanity would have died.

Oh, you never know. If Jessica had borne only a daughter, the Kwisatz Hederach would have come a generation later, but who *knows* what the universe would have been like then. I mean, think about it - Irulan would likely have had children with who knows who, the Fremen would not have revolted, the Atreides and Harkonnen would have been joined in one family (that's a scary thought), etc. Heck, Leto I may not even have been killed.

Besides that, I'm not completely convinced that the Golden Path was the *only* way for humanity to survive - just the only way that it could happen *given* the generation-early Kwisatz Hederach, the Fremen Jihad, (Spoilers Ahead for Children of Dune), Paul's blindness, Chani's death, and the presence of three Fremen pre-born all struggling (and sometimes failing) to prevent Abomination, to say nothing of the return of Duncan or Jessica's leaving or any of the other dozen decisions by as many different people.
And, of course, besides that, it must also be remembered (BOOK SPOILERS for God-Emperor of Dune and Heretics of Dune ahead) that the ultimate conclusion (if you can really call it that) of the Golden Path was the destruction (twice) of all but a single worm, the elimination of most of the spice, etc. I wonder what would have happened if Paul had actually done as he threatened - perhaps another route to the Golden Path.
