this is the best i could find
I was recently in the mood to watch this again, but my friend who owns it moved a town away so I began looking to buy it. Turns out that the DVD is out of print, and after looking all over town for it to no success I've kind of given up on finding it. New copies are going for $35 on Amazon now, which is just ridiculous, because they were practically giving this thing away while it was still in-print.
So I feel you man, I'm jonesing for a Blu-ray release at this point. I would buy it in a heartbeat. Children of Dune, too, for that matter. It's not like Sci-Fi (or Syfy now, blah) has to personally put up the money to release this stuff. It was Artisan, which is now owned by Lionsgate, and they have tons of reasonably priced Blu-rays of catalog titles available now.
honestly unless SciFi puts effort into updating the cgi, just get a dvd copy. I have hi def tv and the cgi is mediocre at best when compared to the people... if it was on blue ray it would look really bad...
shareYeah it looks awful now watching the old DVD I am sure it would look even worse on Blu Ray.
shareI have found a Blu Ray of Dune (2000) for a decent price, region free, from Australia. When are they going to put this on Blu Ray in the United States, and Canada ? I have no idea, but it would be nice to see this released here, or at least put the Director's Cut of the DVD version back out for sale. I have the DVD version, but it fell apart due to how poorly it was made.

I just finished watching it on Blu-Ray, which I ordered from Amazon Europe, but the quality wasn't so good. Sharp image quality here and there, but mostly kind of blurry. A fully remastered 4K UHD with HDR would be really nice.. Like what they did with Star Trek TNG.
