Historical accuracies aside...

This movie was just *bad*.

Yup.

really yup.

I just loved Keitel doing the "hard-nosed petty officers" straight, as in the old good subs movie (and almost any navy movies).

Outside that, it's a glaring example of how NOT to do a standard clichè movie.

It's a sub movie, so you have to go trought the periscope and destroyer and depth charges - just watch Operation petticoat and learn.

It is what they did in between a torpedo run and a depth charge that make the difference: and they choose to tackle on the most absurd things.

Historically inaccurate means you're expecting the liberties they've taken with reality to be worth suspending your disbelief. The only thing suspending my disbelief did was make the penny drop 100x harder when I finally said *beep* this'.

It wasn't even good with all the implausibles. And turning the Germans into a bunch of savages didn't add any dimension to the movie other than to glorify the crew's mission.

Its not enough to do your duty, its not enough to work towards the end of the war, those Germans were bad motherfu**ers and they deserved it too. *rolls eyes, turns on Das Boot, feels clean again*
