It's just a movie. A Hollywood popcorn action flick that little boys love to watch on saturday afternoons. Yeah, it's not Das Boot, you want to watch Das Boot? go watch Das Boot. Those of you that LOVE to compare it to Das Boot (for whatever erroneous reasons you conjure up in your mind) are complete morons. You're the same type of complete morons that compare The Shawshank Redemption to The Longest Yard. The Godfather to The Untouchables. Unforgiven to True Grit.

You might as well compare Down Periscope to Das Boot while you're at it.

There are relevant arguments, fair arguments, ridiculous arguments, and then your arguments...is U-571 a great movie? Of course not, not even close. But it doesn't try to be, it made it into the Black, it did it's job. This isn't a history course, it's not "gritty" or "dark" or "real"....it's a movie... Get over it.
