U-505

I see alot of posts on how the americans never captured an enigma machine at all and was all the British doing. Well i urge people to look up the U-505 because it was captured by the US navy and it in fact had a enigma machine and code books. It even was stated at the end if the film. Now im not saying the US had single handedly broke the code or was the first to capture one, Just trying to tell people that they need to make sure they absolutely know the facts.

Are you that ignorant or are you just trying to stir up more flamebait for the US vs UK idiots on this board?

NO ONE has said the American NEVER captured an Enigma, or that it was ONLY the British that did so...
It's that the British did so first, and repeatedly before the first one was captured by the US.

That is the argument.
Which while true, is in itself a BS argument as far as the film goes as this is not trying to rewrite what historically happened, but is a completely fictional story.

I joined the Navy to see the world, only to discover the world is 2/3 water!

Well i suggest you take a look at some posts on here because their are definitely people who said the US never captured an enigma machine so i guess you're the one who's ignorant.

reply

Sorry Zombie but he is right, YOUR ignorance is showing. I don;t see posts saying the Americans never captured one, I see a lot of posts taking umbrage that the movie makes it seems as the Americans were the first to capture it which could not be further from the truth.

I dont see how the movie makes it try and seem that the americans were the first to capture an enigma machine. Plus please look at other posts because there are definitely people saying that.
