I watched the opening sequence and heard the theme song, and an old question about it came back to me. There’s a back up vocalist that sings “woke up this morning” and it sounds just like James Gandolfini’s voice. Was it him?

James Gandolfini has since passed so he is not singing or performing anywhere anymore

Wow, that was not a careful answer. I am talking about the Sopranos theme song which was originally recorded sometime before the first episode, around 1999.

No, it wasn't him, the song wasn't written or made for the show, it already existed. David Chase heard it, liked it and then it became the theme song, but no, it's not james gandolfini, infact the band is from scotland.
