The opening scene...for people that like to think deep!!

Did anyone love the way that in the first scene, subtle hints that the subject of marriage and distruption of the marriage were going to take place?

For example, in the opening titles, there was a picture of a wedding cake upside down, possibly forshadowing that a marraige (or in the case soon to be wedding) was going to be turned upside down, and when Ben is getting tamed by the fiesty bull tamer Juanita, there is a video of men being knocked over by a bull...possibly forshadowing that Ben will be bowled over by a female?

I love reading deep into such things, i believe that it helps you understand the storyline alot better than when these things are ignored. Whenever i watch a film, i cant help but analyse things like this. am i the only one???

If you can't say anything constructive about a film...dont say anything at all. :)

I believe the word you're looking for is, 'symbolism'. Not sure I'd deem "Forces of Nature" a deeply symbolic movie though it does dabble in it, as you say, in the begining. Additionally, I'm pretty sure most are aware of symbolism and what it brings to a film, therefore, I would say you are definitely not alone. At least I seriously hope not!

Actually the entire movie is meant to be symbolic. Notice the hurricane coincides with Ben's feelings about Sarah, getting stronger the more time he spends with her, and literally almost prevents him from making it to his wedding (the lightning hitting the tree, making it fall in the road.) Then, Ben's realization/moment of clarity occurs during the "eye" of the hurricane.

i so agree with you about looking deeper into the meanings of movies.
whether it is a comedy or a serious movie, everything is written for a reason.
i think writers put in hidden meanings, symbolic meanings.

i do the same thing with songs, always trying to figure out the meanings
the singer is trying to get across to the fans.
