Similarities between Forces of Nature and The Last Kiss

Anyone else notice the similarities in the choices both of the main characters face in both of these movies. Ben has to decide whether he can accept the routine that he is so accustomed to with Beth or try something new with the exciting but unstable Sara(in Forces of Nature) whereas Michael is confronted with the choice of the equally exciting and attractive girl in Kim or chose Jenna (his pregnant fiance) who represents his impending loss of manhood. Both characters, Ben and Michael, interestingly enough, have to decide whether to chose between protecting the ones the love and care about the most or give in to the excitement of something new and liberating. Both reached the same conclusion: protect the ones you love. What does anyone else think?

woah. I didn't make that connection...but yea it makes sense...but Ben didn't have sex with Sarah which is probably why i liked him more than Michael and Ben didn't complicate things. And Sarah wasn't hurt in the end. She knew what she had to do in the end...Michael, though i love Zach Braff as an actor, always seemed ungrateful and selfish...Ben loved Sarah in the end as a friend...but what happened to Kim and Michael? I don't know if what i said makes sense but i completely agree with the whole Ben/Michael being similar, just that Ben was a better guy than Michael...i must say as a story i liked forces of nature more but i love Zach Braff more than Ben Affleck. =^-^=

I agree, Sara, deep down, knew what was going to happen when they arrived at the wedding. When she has that talk with Ben at the end, before he is about to talk to Bridget, she knows what is going to happen. When Ben is having the whole "protective bubble" conversation, and you see the camera focus on Sara smiling, you knew she wasn't hurting from it. Whereas, like you said, Kim was hurt in the end by Michael. I agree, Ben wasn't as selfish and ungrateful as Zach Braff's character Michael, and in the end he appreciated what he got from his short time with Sara (while both helping each other grow as individuals). I agree with you also that Forces of Nature was the better movie, but I just had to bring up that connection between the two to see if anyone else caught it. It's one of the reasons why i like these two movies so much.

I think the thread should read Similarities between Forces of Nature and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. It's virtually an uncredited rom-com remake, though nowhere near as good as the original.🐭
