When Irene and the boy arrive after the bus scene, what's up with the really quick scene of the goat walking weird?

Is there some significance?

The little goat cannot walk by himself; he needs help and is not yet ready to be left alone.

I agree with Dommy1952's comment and would add that the goat was a message to Dora not to give up at a point in their journey when she felt beaten.
