70s Schoolkids
Come on we all watched this while off sick / wagging it ;-)
Every man aims at power, everyone would like to become a dictator if only he could.

Difficult in my case - between 1973 and 1979, I was in two boarding schools - the first one, we were not permitted to watch telly, listen to the radio, records or anything - the only music we were allowed to listen to was classical music - live performers would come to the school on a Sunday - sometimes, we would go to live concerts - even if we had been able to watch telly, we'd've only been able to watch educational programmes - wildlife documentaries and that - bunking off to watch Crown Court would've been frowned upon.
I think I was able to see repeats during holiday time.
The 12 members of the jury were made up of 11 members of the general public and one little-known actor/actress, who played the fore(wo)man - Equity rules forbidding members of the public from speaking on any television show that wasn't a quiz or a documentary.
The stories were scripted and written by well-known writers.
Two conclusions were scripted - the verdict was unscripted, to make it feel like a real court case - one version would see the accused cheering because s/he had been acquitted or vindicated or whatever and the other the opposite.
I only just remember this as i was born in 1971 it was deffo watched whilst i was off sick, think i was 2 young to wack it then lol, only remember one episode about 2 women who where in a shop and one threw something at the other and she fell and went threw a window (something like that) and the one who fell sued the other for throwing it at her.
definatly a blast from the past.
My deepest sympathies Schools like that shouldn't exist!
shareeither holidays or sick days, watching this and other ITV dramas. A lot were repeats of programmes originally shown at 9pm. Eg Van Der Valk, Village Hall, Holding On, Beryl's Lot, Fallen Hero, Hunters Walk.
ITV only showed schools programmes 9.30-12noon so had the whole afternoon to fill and no racing or cricket, before childrens programmes after school hours ie 4pm ish.
Loved watching this on sicky duvet days (well OK blankets back then!). Also, straight after was General Hospital...remember that? Loved it & wish it had a DVD release.
My sicky days uber-TV fest consisted of Mary Mungo & Midge, Teddy Edward, Mr. Benn, Crown Court & General Hospital. An eclectic mix really. I enjoyed them all equally.
He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!
Do you think he wants some cheese?
I remember this. Also Marked Personal with Stephanie Beacham and Julie Peasgood. And a series called Rooms that seemed very grown up. Perhaps I remember them so well because I wasn't supposed to be watching in the first place?
