Jake was a prick

Alonzo was cool and jake could have had it made, even though Alonzo tried to have smiley n his homies ice him, so what, Jake could have used that as life long leverage against Alonzo. Jake could have had minimum 250k cash, maybe more if he insisted, could have made detective in 18 months or less and been the big hero, and could have learned a lot from alonzo. But no...he had to be a righteous prick, just like a real cop, didn't want the money, just wanted to be a assshole and throw the "bad guy" in jail. I was rooting for alonzo at the end.
Not sure how after the shooting of Roger that when Jake and alonzo went downtown to answer questions that they were done by evening and free to go see smiley. Why wouldn't the day be over after the shooting questions were done?
