I suspected that Faith may have been so psychologically disturbed that she merely imagined Heidi to be accusing her, and thus confessed her crime right there in front of the detectives. That's a really good one, and could go either way...

That's what I thought! They made it seem like the cop heard though. That's why I was wondering.

Yeah, it did kinda seem like that, which is why it keeps me wondering, too...because they were probably trying to trick us and keep it ambiguous.
