I mostly agree. It's an extremely difficult question, because a show with five stories per episode just inherently includes a ton of variety within each season. It was easier to pick individual favorite stories. :) (My thread about that has disappeared by now...I think the idea of going through the whole show and doing that was a bit intimidating! Totally natural for me, though.)
I'm one of those fans that prefer Frakes, but also love Brolin. The two stories he told were quite interesting and well done. I wouldn't have minded if Frakes had been given a few of those, too...but at the same time, I'm happy with the show and the stories as they are. Frakes' dialogue, expressions, mannerisms, appropriately cheeky yet mysterious and sometimes eerie attitude, set, and props represented the series attaining nearly its full potential. After a very good first season, they figured out how to make it absolutely great. I'm very glad that we have the six Brolin eppies, but think it was for the best that the rest got the "Frakes makeover."
The title sequence and voiceovers, in all their variations, are sheer masterpieces...some of the most chilling, recognizable, memorable ones in all of TV history. The subway is an excellent touch, indeed. Don was perfect--but if he sadly had to be replaced, Campbell was the man for the job. Again, I love both and appreciate the unique sounds and qualities they brought.
I like you, Um. I like largeness...
