Less of an intellectual mind-bender than it lets on

Pi has been placed in the category of a thriller and a mind-bender. Between the teaser poster, the description of the movie and the first few minutes, there's an impression that it's more cryptic than it actually is.

The math in the movie is pretty superficial. There's real no deep puzzle to figure out.

Perhaps the best thing Pi has going for it is the stylized arthouse directing which conveys delirium, confusion and a host of other emotions very well

Agree, but it's so beautiful i may watch it again.

It's also kind of cycling, redundant, repeating.

Why do so many cretins believe it to be a movie about mathematics and then complain when it turns out the focus of the movie is on the main character's mental state rather than mathematics?

reply

"mathematician searches for a key number that will unlock the universal patterns found in nature"

It's not supposed to be an intellectual math movie like that other low budget hard sci fi movie from the early 2000s that I can't remember the name of.
