Oh Coens! What have you done!!

I am more upset than I can say that these immensely talented people have sold out to the mega-studio barons and served up just another multiplex seat-filler for idiots.

Please guys....PLEASE...let this just be a blip.

please....

Actually the script is pretty intelligent if you pay attention. Great writing and very sharp commenatary on both lawyers and relationships.

How do you think it could have been made better?

I personally thought the dialogue and the courtroom scenes were hilarious and damn near perfect.

Would like to know in order of your preference if possible, the best five or so Coen Brothers films you recommend as I would to add the Coen Brothers movies to my collection. I dont have any as yet. Thanks, Krishan

"This movie has much more going for it than you think."

Yep. One sees how it works when one approaches it as the satirical lancing of modern American "marraige" attitudes it is.

This movie cracks me up from start to finish. Their second funniest movie behind The Big Lebowski. I don't understand why people don't enjoy this movie.

I've avoided this movie like the plague ever since it got out but I have to tell you I really liked it for what it is, an overblown romantic comedy with great writing, great actors and funny scenes, and a great plot as well. It's nowhere near as good as The Big Lebowski or Fargo or Miller's Crossing but it's not even remotely the same kind of a movie as those three, it's a romantic movie with lots of comedy and satire.

I'm a diehard fan of the Coen Brothers and I loved this movie. Not their best mind you, but I REALLY enjoyed this film.

It was smart, it was funny, and it had actors they haven't used much until recently, so it was almost refreshing.

I usually HATE Cedric the Entertainer, but thankfully he had a minor role in this film, but he did SO WELL in that role.

This movie had the little dialog the Coens are known for. Especially in the courtroom scene involving the divorcing wife and her "gizmos". That had me rolling.

Like I said, not their best, but it's still good for what it is. The Coen Brothers have YET to let me down at all.

OMG, this movie is wonderful!!! The timing, as usual in a Coen film, is impeccible, the dialogue flawless. The courtroom dialogue between the lawyers at the "sex" trial at the beginning of the movie is just too funny and the conversation between the ladies at the pool 25 minutes into the movie.. and the one lady coughs? This movie is wonderful... bar none.

I thought a comedy was supposed to make you laugh.

I'm a big Coen Bros fan, but thought this one was a total disappointment--so badly written. Esp the ending. What in the world would make you think that Marilyn would suddenly "fall in love" with Miles? It just rang totally false to me.

I found IC to be better than the big lebowski which I personally feel is very overrated (by psudo intellectuals).

reply

So far all the Coen brother's movie i watched I loved them all.
