The Keynote Speech (Did Anyone Notice....)

After watching this movie a couple of times, I noticed something about the keynote speech Massey (sp?) made at the convention.

I thought it was a very funny moment:

Clooney is making this big heartfelt speech about love, etc., and obviously acting like a man very much in love....then he strides down the aisle, into the waiting arms of his assistant - they embrace and then raise their arms in solidarity and triumph!!

All of those lawyers must have been drawing the conclusion that Clooney and his assistant were "coming out" and announcing their love in a big way!!

*Note: this isn't a dig on same-sex relationships; it's the misunderstanding created that I find absolutely hilarious.

English is your second language, so I forgive you for misunderstanding everything. Sounds like you've got a big chip on your shoulder regarding people from a certain country. Keep moving your finger around that plastic globe, doofus; you need to point it somewhere else.

Oh, and could you learn how to write, use caps, and employ proper grammar?

Pathetic.

That is pretty funny now that I think of it. After reading your post, I went back and watched the movie again and definitely appreciate the scene a lot more with that direction.

I simply found it to be a funny spoof of the multitude of scenes like this in other movies (e.g. "Wall Street") - the speaker improvising a new speech coming from his heart, close-up shots of people in the audience reacting and becoming moved, stunned silence after the speech is over, followed by one guy slowly clapping his hands which provokes the rest of the crowd to applaud, cheer and rise from their seats...Hilarious!

I loved all the shots of people in the audience acting shocked, then looking back and forth at each other and murmuring. It was right out of a 'Bewitched' episode.

Note that everyone in the audience was wearing exactly the same colored suit. This adds to the feel of the audience members not being real individuals. Collectively they're a prop responding to Clooney's speech. I'm sure this was all intentional.
