okay, and this one part i dont understand, when he was on the couch with his dog and he heard some sound, what was that supposed to be, since hes the killer and all and cant be making the noise?

2.) The sound consisted of typical creaking noises (what you'd expect in an old house) and this was followed by heavy breathing, which turns out to be his dog, Duke (he reaches over and gently squeezes Duke's mouth shut, and the noise stops.)
