So what happened to Huey, Dewey, and Louie's parents?

I hear they sent the boys to stay with Donald after a prank of theirs went wrong and it put their Dad in the hospital with a back injury, but they've stayed with their other relatives for so long I can't help but wonder if their parents are either always traveling or dead.

Also, was Quack Pack canon with DuckTales and Darkwing Duck? The only reference I can think of to DuckTales was Donald's service in the NAVY but we never hear of Uncle Scrooge, Webby, or Launchpad or Gizmo Duck. Oh, and in this show there is quite an abundance of humans whereas in the aforementioned there were mostly anthropomorphic animals.

Its never been officially explained what happened to the boys parents only that their mother is Donald's sister and that they're always simply "away". Traditionally, since they're always seen living with either Donald or Scrooge, I guess they figured no other explaination was needed.
