Meredith Salenger
I haven't seen the movie, but I've read that she dies. Roach larva is inside her and it bursts out? Is that correct? How can this happen to such a beautiful woman?

I just saw a clip from this movie, and she is gorgeous. Makes you wonder how she wasn't a mega star in the late 90's.
Normally I would be all for having a hot woman terrorized by some crazy unknown threat. But from the description of her death.. well it doesn't pleasant. It's more the kind of the thing that would traumatize me rather than the campy fun you'd expect from a B-movie.
Mega-star...
How many movies and TV series does it take to get that adjective?
Just check IMDB for how many credits she has, especially in the 1990s.
There is also a general trend that actresses who "show skin" seem to have bigger careers; Heigel "shows skin" in this movie and Salenger apparently never did. You can argue that it shows an actress's commitment to the craft and they get considered for more roles, or simply that 'sex sells', but the trend (NOT any guarantee) is there.

As for this movie's rating,
my rule of thumb for movies with more than 3 star actors has been to start with 10+1 (must have one star), and subtract the number of known actors in it, and expect that result as the rating. If less than 15 credits in IMDB, only subtract 1/4 point, and don't count the "character" parts (desk clerk, one or two lines, etc.).
(No, I am not a big fan of "ensemble" movies...)
So, 11 - 6 - 5x(0.25) = 3.75 points, and comes pretty close to the rating...

A very novel and mathmatic way of using your votes :-)
I don't go into it that deep, I have a simple rule, I either A: Hate the film = 1 star B: Thought it wasn't bad = 5 stars or C: Really enjoyed it = 10 stars Although I always like to give a film a chance no matter the size of its budget or how famous the cast are.
A lot of people on here vote on films just because it's directed by or staring a certain person, without actually watching it first...I.E Uwe Boll...I've seen a lot of people downrate his movies before it's even been released. Granted, he has made a lot of tripe but he has made some decent films as well (Rampage anyone?) Plus, I can't honestly say that any of his movies have been any worse than Bug Buster lol.
"Hasta la vista, baby."
Do you ever change things up based on whether a movie is released on video or on tv or at the movies?
Perhaps you would give a 6 to a straight to DVD movie if it isn't bad. But only a 5 to a blockbuster movie since it has higher expectations.
