Is this the movie where Earth is destroyed in the end.
Like I heard of a movie called SuperNova where they go to some planet and find something... then at the end it says 50 years later than showing earth destroyed.
shareLike I heard of a movie called SuperNova where they go to some planet and find something... then at the end it says 50 years later than showing earth destroyed.
shareThey never showed the destruction of Earth in the version I saw... They just implied that a shockwave will reach Earth in 50 years.
shareIt says that the effects of the thingummy will reach Earth in 51 years and either create stuff or destroy it, probably both.
But this is not the only thing called "Supernova"!!!!!!!!!
The version I saw ends when Kyla and whatsisname get back to Earth and find out whether sharing one of those dimensional whatsitunits has done something terrible to them. Nick. But cannot remember the name of those units.
I thought you meant the ending reveals the final fate of Earth. But yeah, I saw that ending as well... Big plot holes I tell ya...
The "2% genetic material transfered" and "oh look you have me eye" crap right? That's complete bull. Each and every cell (except sperm & egg) in our body contains our DNA in its entirety within the nucleus. Even if the dimentional stabilization chambers (that's what they're called I believe) somehow removes the DNA from the cells transfered, there's still the sperm (I assume there was a sperm what with the pregnency and hallaboluba) which contains at the very least, 50% of DNA material (the egg provides the other half)...
This movie has more holes than a swiss cheese targeting drone on a uzi range...
I still liked the ending where she was pregnant. It was sweet the way he kisses her, but very gently.
Okay, it would have been funnier if he had totally freaked out about it. "Oh my God, you stole my genes! You and your creepy ex totally engineered the situation because you're gene bandits!!!!"
And, in a parallel universe, that may be how the film ends.
Maybe her broodiness got transferred as well as some brown eye gene and that's why he accepted the news so well.
At least he couldn't shriek and say, "Omigod, how do I know it's mine?????????"
What you failed to realize is, if his sperm could somehow end up in her egg, there's a good chance the rest of those sperms went *everywhere* during the voyage...
Is that what Nick meant when he said his performance would be hindered under the circumstances? Just random squirts everywhere?
If you think about it, and I didn't till about 10 seconds ago, their best chance of not ending up a mutant would surely be to stay as far apart as physically possible during the jump. Wouldn't it?
shareNot really... The jump compresses the ship into a point singularity anyway. The chamber just retains structural information of the occupants. I guess the reconstruction process is just messed up...
shareI think the original captain should not have taken the decision to jump in the first place, knowing one of the DSUs was faulty. But then where would the story be?
shareEverybody seems to assume that Jumping when they are in the tube at the end and getting 2 percent of eachothers DNA got her pregnant but they did have sex during the movie, who is to say that didnt get her pregnant.
shareThe scenes with the microscope-enhanced images of the sperm and egg kinda gave it away. That, and Kayla mentioned earlier that she couldn't have a child under natural circumstances -- "Sweetie"'s remark, "You're going to have a child" meaning that the conditions that prevented it have been circumvented or eliminated.
shareActually, according to the deleted scenes section, the alternate ending stated that the supernova shockwave would reach Earth in 256 years, 9 months. Also, I think this ending is way cooler then the one that's in the movie.

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!
The pregnancy ending is so sweet! She is rewarded for volunteering to share her DSU with him, as she clearly wanted a baby but could not conceive. He seems to have received some of her "broodiness" DNA, as he seems very laid-back about the whole idea. Still, I suppose that, compared to the prospect of ending up a two-headed monstrosity, finding out he merely had odd eyes and an unplanned baby was quite a relief.
I love the way he kisses her, very lightly, and the way they just don't seem to want to move.

Don't dream it, be it.
Ok, but from a visual effects standpoint, the actual supernova ending is better.
